So this year S is in grade 4, new teacher etc. Start of last year I gave the teacher articles on not doing homework etc so I want to do the same this year.

I need articles or stuff to back up my viewpoint about:
Homework
Shaming
Self-esteem

And I *may* need something about show and tell *shudders*

I've got the Alfie Kohn website with all the articles but I'd like another source too!

Any ideas?!

5 reasons not to say good job is a good one for praise, I just posted it here too Smile

As for the homework, bugger it! Tell them she's not doing it and leave it at that, you've got no obligation to explain yourself to the teacher Wink

Oh they're fine with her not doing homework. But they guilt her about it, for instance her last teacher would sit all the children in a circle and they'd all bring out their homework... I was shocked! She started doing homework not because she wanted, but because she felt guilty for not doing it.
